FITZMAS EVE

I, like most liberal Americans, await special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's expected indictments of Karl "Turd Blossom" Rove and Scooter Libby on Thursday with barely undisguised glee. It would be even better if Dick Cheney and W were included, but we'll settle for what we can get at this point--it's nice that finally someone at a higher level might be held accountable for the criminal conduct of this administration. This might be a good time to point out another great source for inside political info--Josh Marshall's Talking Points Memo. It's where I go first for breaking political stories in Washington.

In other cheerful political news, in the state so conservative that Tom Frank used it as a case study of right wing politics in What's the Matter with Kansas, a District Attorney is changing his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat:

Morrison said he chose to run as a Democrat — despite warnings from some that it wasn’t the smartest political move in a largely Republican state — because he believes the Democratic Party is better focused on public safety issues.

It seems that some folks are getting off the sinking ship that is the GOP.
